Hers to Choose by Patricia Knight

Hers to Choose

by

Patricia Knight

I'd like to first say that this is book two, the first book is called Hers to Command.  My review for that book is HERE

Now, some readers will be able to jump right in to book two and catch up fairly well with the story.  However, it is my recommendation that you read the previous book first, to best understand everything in book two, Hers to Choose.

With that being said, once again, I truly enjoyed Ms. Knight's erotic story.  There is a lot to understand about how the planet Verdantia needs it's people to flourish, who the enemies are as well as how the characters all fit together.  And, again, that can best be explained in book one.  Book two starts off with a prologue that will give you some insight as to what is going on.  Then, the story itself starts off with a bang...um, pun intended  *wink*.

From there, the story is one of high emotion.  Between the danger and the love, I was constantly in a state of anxious reading.  The heroine, Sophi, whom we met in book one, has seen much pain and suffering in her life.  She has spent the last few years turning everything around and is a flight leader in charge of a group of women archer's with exceptional fighting skill.  She has evolved to a woman of great strength, amazing bravery and exceptional leadership.  A strong woman in every sense of the word.  However, her brother has sent word that she should consider a joining with Commander DeStroia to help serve their beloved planet.  She reluctantly agrees, if only to fulfill her duty and return to her life as flight leader shortly after.

Commander Eric DeStroia is commissioned to accompany Lady Sophi on a long journey which will bring her back to her brother.  Along the way, the two encounter danger after danger after danger.  Lady Sophi is a prize for the enemy and they go out of their way to kidnap her.  As I mentioned earlier, there is much danger.  There are violent confrontations, sword fighting, deaths, torture and kidnapping.  Somewhere through it all, Sophi and Eric begin to see more to one another.  They have a powerful connection that no one knows about nor understands.  But, it is that very connection that will lead to victory for the people of Verdentia.

Our tetriarch makes a return appearance, as one is Sophi's brother...remember Doral?  There is a wonderful HEA, which I love!  And, of course, a planet that survives on sexual arousal creates a story packed with HOT sex to make the pulse race.  I enjoy erotic stories.  I enjoy romance.   I enjoy science fiction.  When you put the three together, as Ms. Knight has done, a triad of entertainment is created.  If you enjoy these types of stories, you will love this one as well.  But, again, grab book one FIRST!

To preserve their civilization, a disillusioned warrior and a violated innocent need to put aside the trauma of their past to confront a present evil.

Mentally scarred from her years as prisoner to the off-world invaders, Lady Sophillia Glorianna DeLorion, doubts she can be a fit sexual partner for any man...

...even one whose passionate green eyes make her remember what it is to desire.

Commander of the Queen’s Royal Guard, Eric DeStroia had grown up watching the corrosive, soul-killing effects of arranged, aristocratic marriage and vowed to remain alone. But under his hardened military exterior, Eric has a kind heart. When the second Tetriarch suggests he marry a noble woman rescued from the enemy, Eric reconsiders, consoling himself with visions of sheltering a wounded dove under his mighty arm. Instead, he discovers a fierce falcon that refuses to stoop to his lure.

In the aftermath of their resounding defeat, a survivor from the enemy camp plotted a return to Verdantia to exact retribution. His first objective is the recapture of Lady Sophillia DeLorion. She had been unreachable until she went to the Oshtesh. Now, only Eric DeStroia stands in his way.

Patricia A. Knight is the pen name for an eternal romantic who lives in Dallas, Texas with her horses, dogs and the best man on the face of the earth – oh yeah, and the most enormous bullfrogs you will ever see. Word to the wise: don’t swim in the pool after dark.

The Petrosian Invitation by TP Keating

The Petrosian Invitation by T.P. Keating

I really enjoyed this story. It was a nice change from the normal 'vampire romance' books because it dealt more with the characters and their interaction with one another than the vampire aspect. The reader knows what Oleg is, but as they read the story, they start to understand who he is. And, I truly enjoyed Sam and her sister, Zoe. Not being British, some of their humorous comments flew over my head at first (happens to me a LOT by the way), but once I caught on, I found the story to be quite entertaining. I believe the author has thoughts of acquiring a new cover. Otherwise, I did find a few typos but nothing to take away from the story, itself. I read it in one sitting and truly enjoyed it. Hope you do as well!

Oleg Petrosian, the self-made Russian Billionaire, wonders when his un-beating heart will experience a glimmer of love. On a business trip to London, to seal a gas deal, he meets Sam Latham, the chef at a swanky restaurant in South Kensington. After she caters for a business meeting at his nearby home, his private Learjet (flown by his cosmonaut sister) whisks Oleg, Sam and her younger actress sister to Oleg's cliff top home in Russia's Anapa, a health resort on the Black Sea. But can their fledgling romance survive Oleg's deep, dark secret?

"How easy it is, to walk in. How hard it can be to leave. When her life was strewn with the wreckage of emotional betrayals, by men she had loved and trusted. Wreckage that had left scars no eye could see, but which cut down to her very soul. The soul of a woman with so much love to give. But that was before, back in London. To hell with those idiot boys! Let their names be ripped from the history book, burned to a crisp and scattered on the four winds. May their search for love forever be damned. Here and now, on this glorious summer day, she declared the scars well and truly healed. She walked in because she wanted to walk in. Deliberately, and with her head held high."
